Geordie Productions is proud to bring Montrealers a new theatrical adaptation of the classic holiday favourite, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Adapted by Alexandria Haber, and in co-production with Concordia University’s Department of Theatre, this sophisticated production – and largest of the company’s history - will be presented on Geordie’s Mainstage at the D.B. Clarke Theatre from December 4th to 18th.

In keeping with the season’s theme, “Theatre for all audiences”, A Christmas Carol will welcome audiences of all ages, with or without accompanying children (minimum recommended age is 7 years). Explains Artistic Director, Dean Patrick Fleming: “Great stories of the past, present and future have one thing in common: they are inclusive of everyone. Should great theatre not be the same?”

It’s Christmas Eve on a dark Victorian night and the wealthy miser Mr. Scrooge is haunted by a series of ghosts who show him the inevitable consequences of his selfish ways, if he doesn’t change. As the bell in the clock-tower rings, Scrooge is taken on an unforgettable journey into his past, present and future that will help him discover the true spirit of the holidays and open his heart to love.

Under the direction of Dean Patrick Fleming, Geordie’s team of prominent and award-winning actors and designers interpret Charles Dickens’ timeless story with the spectacular creativity you’ve come to expect with acclaimed past productions such as The Little Prince, Alice Through the Looking Glass and The Jungle Book.

The elegance of the Victorian era is captured with a sophisticated set & lighting design by Ana Cappelluto, period costumes by James Lavoie, sound design by Jesse Ash and choreography by Robin Hendersen.

David Francis, fresh from his role in Inherit the Wind (Segal Centre) plays Scrooge, with an ensemble cast consisting of Leni Parker (Inherit the Wind, Segal Centre), Michel Perron (In Piazza San Domenico, Centaur Theatre), Owen Clark, Callahan Conner, Shannon Hamilton, Imogen Haworth, Christopher Hicks, Bryan Libero, Charlotte Rogers, Nicholas Santillo, and Emily Skahan.

Geordie Productions is a professional theatre company that has presented theatre for young audiences in Montreal and across Eastern Canada for over 25 years. Through Geordie’s Mainstage Series – large-scale productions for family and school audiences in downtown Montreal – and Geordie’s School Tour, which annually travels over 27,000km, Geordie touches the imagination of more than 80,000 audience members each year.
