Movers were on the scene at a three-storey apartment block on Marlowe Avenue near de Maisonneuve Boulevard in NDG on Thursday, removing the belongings of tenants who were forced to flee when a fire broke out last Tuesday evening. The fire claimed the life of a man in his 40s, while leaving another in his 50s in serious condition in hospital. The general alarm blaze started on the second floor and spread to the roof in little time. The building’s 40 tenants cannot return to their homes because of the extensive damage. As there was a fatality, a full police investigation is underway.
