Affordable housing in NDG
Public discussion on March 13
The NDG Community Council is organizing a public discussion on housing issues in NDG. The discussion will be held at the NDG Community Council’s 2020 Public Assembly on Thursday March 13 at 7pm at the St-Jacques Community Center (5600 Upper Lachine Street).
The public discussion will attempt to investigate issues related to housing affordability in the St Raymond area of NDG and will allow attendees to consider the issue of governmental responsibility towards affordable housing. Information will be provided on the impact on housing of the new McGill University Health Center, on the borough’s proposed development plans and on development possibilities for the Upper Lachine/St Jacques interchange.

“The landscape for housing is changing in St-Raymond. It’s important for NDG residents to be informed about those changes and to have their say about what kinds of housing they want for their neighbourhood” said NDG housing committee coordinator Leslie Bagg in response to the housing issue in St Raymond.

The Forum also hopes to identify possible means of involvement in housing mobilization at a local level. Information will be distributed on the changing housing landscape in St Raymond, housing rights and the various programs, resources and services available to residents. Housing professionals from NDG will facilitate a discussion allowing attendees to voice their concerns and ideas towards improving housing services in NDG.

As is the case with every 2020 public meeting, the first part of the evening will be a “Community Exchange” to allow attendees to learn about the work of different local groups in NDG. Presentations will be given by: Montreal Community Loan Association (ACEM) and Frip-prix Renaissance.

For more information, contact Leslie Bagg at 514.484.1471 or email her at habitat@ndg.ca. * Free childcare is available with 24 hours notice.
