If you still own a car — that is, if the price of gas hasn’t forced you to trash it yet or if you aren’t in hock up to your eyeballs — there’s a West End man who can make the experience a whole lot simpler. Jeff Weinstein, who has been with various firms handling sales, marketing and market research for over 20 years, first saw the writing on the wall four years ago. “Cars take up a significant chunk of people’s lives,” Weinstein told me. “For those who are extremely busy with families and careers, it might be too much of a responsibility owning one.”
With an associate, Weinstein initially operated a three-year business that catered to people’s cars. Handling the gamut of the automobile relationship, from the initial purchase to the final sale and all the servicing in between, Weinstein developed a good rapport with all the various garages, dealers and car services. For the past year, the 47-year old entrepreneur has owned his own firm, JLW Auto World. If you’re a senior who wants to sell the old clunker that’s been collecting dust in the garage, want to add some detailing to your sporty-ish car, need tires or something as simple as an oil change or tune up, Weinstein will get you great deals on the parts, will pick up your car, deliver it to the garage and then drop it off when it’s done. He accepts payment up front or is paid when he hands your car back to you, safe and sound.
“One big obstacle for many car owners is that they have no idea where to go to have honest work done at reasonable prices,” Weinstein said. “I’ve been doing this long enough that I know whom to deal with and whom to avoid.”
Weinstein relies on networking to get the word out about his business. If you know of anyone in need of his services, call him at 514-463-4087 or e-mail him at jeffrey_5903@hotmail.com.
Hampstead serves up a terrific summer activity
Following closely behind news of Côte St. Luc’s golf programs for young people, the City of Hampstead let me know they’ve got some great ways to heat up their tennis courts this summer.
Next Monday, June 11, beginning at 6 p.m., Hampstead Park’s (30 Lyncroft Rd.) the place to be for the town’s 2007 Annual Open House Tennis BBQ event. A match between a former top ranked Canadian Junior, Jared Leibner, and Hampstead resident Dr. Chaim Edlestein, nationally ranked at No. 3, will be just one of the activities taking place for people of all ages. Best part is you don’t need to take a street car to enjoy some of the finer things offered in the West End.

www.hampstead.qc.ca. Can of worms now open regarding sexually-restricted clubs, organizations
I have to tell you I never had a problem with bars or organizations that restrict membership to a certain age or sex. And this woman who simply had to make a fuss about sitting at a men-only bar in the Gay Village, simply to make a point, has made one with me, all right.
You know, I think I’ll consider joining my local Curves, because I’d just love to try getting into shape their way and, hey, I can’t do it like this anywhere else. If my presence makes some women uncomfortable, it’s too damned bad and I’ll sue to get in if I have to.
A legal precedent has been set here and as far as I am concerned, you can no longer restrict membership in any organization, because we all have rights, no? Where does this all end? With lawyers getting richer, that’s where.
Stay tuned… I’ll be nice and curvy in no time, I’m sure.
