Little League Quebec’s Major Provincial Championship tournament, hosted by NDG Baseball at Loyola Park in western NDG, entered day five today.

The first game saw Val D’Or play Valleyfield in a must win game. The game was back and forth, with the final score being 3-2 for Valleyfield. The win assured Valleyfield the 1st place bye to the championship game with a perfect 4-0 record. The loss sees former major league pitcher Terry Forster and his team from Val D’Or eliminated from further play with a 1-3 record despite #13 Cedric Pellerin’s 9/10 batting record with 2 triples. 2 doubles, and 3 home runs. The second game featured the battle for 2nd place as the Drummondville Dodgers faced the host NDG Major Lynx. Both teams began play with a 2-1 record. The NDG Major Lynx dominated play, winning by a score of 20-10 after 5 innings. The win gives the Major Lynx 2nd place with a 3-1 record and Drummondville 3rd place with a 202 record. Semi final action takes place tomorrow at 1pm at Loyola Park in western NDG with the host NDG Major Lynx again meeting the Drummondville Dodgers. The winner of the game advances to Wednesday’s championship game at Loyola Park against Valleyfield

The winner of this tournament advances to the Canadian National tournament in Ancaster, Ontario as representatives from Quebec. The winners of the Canadian National tournament advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. The players in this tournament are 11-12 years old.

Campbell’s Chunky Most Valuable Coach Carey Ashton and his NDG Junior Lynx have advanced to the Canadian Junior Championships in Lethbridge, Alberta as representatives of Quebec after a convincing complete game 16-0 victory by Liam Wyatt against Drummondville in Brossard. The players in this age group are 13-14 years old. the NDG TBall Lynx continue in the TBall Provincial tournament. Their next game takes place on Saturday July 31st at 11AM in Valleyfield against an as yet unknown opponent. The NDG Minor Lynx have advanced to Tuesday’s Minor provincial championship game after concluding round robin play in Warwick with a 4-0 record. Their opponent will be known after this evening’s semi final game between the Warwick and Drummondville. The players in this age group are 9-10 years old.
