Masako Awata, a town council member from the central Japanese town of Toyoyama, toured the city hall and library and Côte Saint-Luc and attended a city council meeting on September 29. Councillor Steven Erdelyi, who taught English in Kanoya, Japan for two years, welcomed the guest in Japanese before Mayor Anthony Housefather invited Councillor Awata to address to the audience. Toyoyama is home to an international airport and has a population of about 13, 500 and is the home town of Major League Baseball all-star right fielder Ichiro Suzuki.
