“It’s very well organized,” noticed Carolyn Drew, who bought 7 books at the Benny Library book sale last weekend. Nineteen tables were covered with several thousands of books of all kinds: children’s books, school books, encyclopedias, dictionaries and novels in English and French. “We come whenever the sale is on because it’s our chance to get lots of books cheaply and support the library,” said Mary, who came with her husband Rob. They usually spend between $15 and $20 and Mary admitted that they don’t have a limit, though they should, as they never have enough room for all those books at home.

Aaron Zhao bought books for all his family and friends and purchased so many books he needed a box to carry them. “I believe they are more people this year than last year,” said Natacha, who joined the book sale committee two years ago. Ten volunteers from the Partners of the Benny Library spent the entire day outside the library arranging books on the tables. “The prices are really good and this sale really helps the library,” added Natacha. For the first time, the book sale was announced on Facebook. “I created a Facebook page, so hopefully that helped, and even if people can’t come, they can tell somebody else about it,” she said.

In the end the book sale was a success and the Partners for the Benny Library collected $1,500. “We sold half of our books and the profits were more substantial than last year,” rejoiced Anna Cockerton, in charge of communications for the Partners. The books left will stay in their boxes, waiting for the next sale.
