Montreal West resident and president of Hyperbole Music, Carl Comeau, was enjoying dinner with friends and introducing them to music he had recently "discovered" when he had a light bulb moment: why not create an event where people could enjoy a relaxing evening, while learning about wine and music at the same time? "Good friends and wine flowing… it just made sense," says Comeau, the founder of the Decanted Series, a unique and innovative concept that brings together lovers of fine music and fine wine at one of Montreal's most charming venues: the Cabaret Lion D'Or. Nightlife enthusiasts looking for something new and perhaps a little 'classier' than the usual offerings in our city, will be treated to great music in a warm and friendly atmosphere, while learning about wine from a sommelier whose mandate it is to make wine more accessible.

First comes the wine…

Each evening focuses on a specific wine region and introduces specific wineries and their products by the Head Sommelier of the Decanted Series, Guénaël Revel. This is followed by a commented wine tasting session, where guests receive an information kit describing the wines they have tasted as well as a personal evaluation chart which they may keep as a reference tool.

Then the music…

After the wine tasting, the musical portion of the evening takes place, with local artists or touring artists. Some past performers have been double Juno award winner for Best International Album of the Year, Alex Cuba, who opened for Cesaria Evora at Place Des Arts, and more recently, NDG's very own Blues and Roots singer and songwriter, Rob Lutes.
