The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train hits the rails again this year, visiting the Beaconsfield train station on Sunday Nov. 29, one of 130 communities in eight United States and six provinces.
West Islanders are invited to come from 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. The train, adorned with lights, converts into a stage presenting musical guests L’Ensemble Tournevis and The Odds.
Holiday Train organizers are asking people to bring food or a cash donation. On hand, will be Beaconsfield Mayor David Pollock and a choir of volunteers singing the warmest Christmas carols. Moisson Montréal is Canada’s largest food bank and has been providing food to Montrealers for over 20 years. This year, food donations to Moisson Montreal has decreased 21 per cent despite higher demand.
In the past decade, the Holiday Train has raised $4 million and two million pounds of food for local food banks. In these tough economic times, 20 per cent more Canadians are turning to food banks for support this year. Hunger continues to be a problem and food banks need your help now more than ever.
If you can not attend the Holiday Train event in Beaconsfield, there is another one in the Old Port, in Old Montreal, on Saturday Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
