The Lynx will now move on to Little League Canada's Junior National Championship in Langley, BC, from Aug. 6 through 12.
The winners of the Canadian nationals will then move on to the Junior League World Series in Taylor, MI.
At the minor level, the Lynx played tough against their opponents from Valleyfield yesterday in Brossard, losing 4-1 in extra innings in the championship game for the 9-10-year-old age group.
In major action, the Lynx lost 2-1 to Valleyfield in a close semi-final game in Drummondville, while the NDG Senior Lynx fell yesterday as well 6-4 to Valleyfield.
The local Girls Summer Softball League will host its second-annual fundraising All-Star game on Sunday, Aug. 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Côte St. Luc’s Pierre Elliot Trudeau Park.
With all proceeds going to the Israel Cancer Research Fund’s pediatric oncology initiatives, the game is certainly for a great cause - last year it raised over $18,000.
“The barbecue, pizza, and sweet treats will start at 5 p.m. and the event will commence with a Mothers vs. Mothers game at 6 p.m.,” explained event co-organizer Lindsay Sacks.
“It followed by the actual All-Star game at 7p.m. with a raffle going on the entire time throughout the event.
“Our raffle is quite impressive this year offering a week free at Sunny Acres Day Camp, an HP Laptop with an estimated at a retail value of $2,100, and many other fun prizes. Families are encouraged to come!”

My wife Johanna and I had the pleasure of playing the first-ever Homerun for a Cure event last Sunday at Trudeau park, with eight teams competing and coming together to raise money to fight MS.
One of my best friends was diagnosed with MS last year, so this is obviously something we hold very close to our hearts and we’re proud to have participated in an event that raised close to $40,000 for MS research.
I’ll be sure to publicize this event as much as possible leading up to the second-annual edition next year.
