The Maisons Fleuries contest is held yearly in Côte Saint-Luc and the city awards prizes to residents who create attractive green spaces with blossoming trees, flowers and shrubs. A panel of judges views the gardens and selects the winners and runners up based on various categories. “It is a pleasure to look around Côte Saint-Luc and observe the uniqueness and creativity of the gardens that adorn our city,” Mayor Anthony Housefather said. “Residents undergo great efforts to beautify our community and this contest acknowledges their hard work and creativity.”

Residents can enter for consideration the garden of their single-family home, duplex or townhouse. All apartment buildings, commercial establishments and public buildings are automatically entered in the contest and will be judged separately. In addition, residents who enter this year and who have received awards for their gardens twice within the past three years will automatically be entered in the Elite category, in which they will be judged separately and compete against each other for a separate prize. Each city district will have three winners in each category. Judges will assess front gardens according to the cleanliness of the property, the appearance of plants and flowers, and general landscaping.

Residents can pick up a registration form weekdays between 8:30am and 4:30pm at Côte Saint-Luc City Hall (5801 Cavendish Blvd.) or the Parks and Recreation Department Building (7500 Mackle Rd.) prior to the deadline of July 24. For more information, please contact Loretta Anisef at 514-485-6806 ext. 2023.

The chairpersons of the Maisons Fleuries contest are Councillor Allan J. Levine, Councillor Steven Erdelyi, and Harold Greenspon.
