DaimlerChrysler forecasts lower earnings

DaimlerChrysler said Friday it expects to meet the lower range of its earnings

target for fiscal 2001.

The automaker said its adjusted operating profit for the year will likely be $1.08

billion (all figures in U.S. dollars) on revenues of $134 billion.

Those sales figures are lower than the fiscal 2000 annual revenues of $145 billion.

Following the Sept. 11 attacks, the company warned its profit would be lower than

the original target set last February.
